This post been inspired by one of the blog readers. She
sent me inquiry if I am aware on any positive effect of the magic mushrooms to
the menopause symptoms. I am not. And that is quite understandable. Magic
mushrooms are still not legalized by the government for medical or recreational
use, and there is not much publicly available information on the related
research and development. Yes, there are moves in the right direction.
Recently, City of Oakland announced that magic mushrooms are decriminalized
(almost legalized, right?).
The simple search on the Web lead to the following post
in the message board, which I will publish in full for your convenience:
Alright so another post just sparked this one and I’m curious if anyone
else has any info regarding psilocybin and its effects on the various side
effects of menopause.
I ask because I’m now dealing with the SECOND woman that has seen
around 90%relief from their menopause symptoms.
My girl was having terrible symptoms.
Extreme night sweats and burning hot
Flush face randomly throughout the day
Mood swings
Almost confusing frustration
Sleep deprivation for days on end
Headaches
She had these symptoms for over a year every single day and night with
no relief.
She had mushrooms for the first time and it was a rough trip but ended
positively.
We didn't sleep that night we just stayed up talking after. Next day we
were exhausted but I noticed she wasn't getting the red face flashes. Her body
temperature seemed to be pretty normal (her skin would be on fire sometimes,
hot to the touch like she had 109-degree fever). She didn't complain about a
headache at all. I figured she was just
too exhausted to even have symptoms.
That night she slept right through the night. I woke up and she was
asleep which hadn't happened in a year.
Usually if I move she wakes right up.
Again I figured she was just exhausted beyond comprehension.
So Sunday rolls around, she slept in which has never happened in all
the years I’ve known her. We're both up
around 530 with no alarm clock. I was up she slept until 7.
A few hours later she noticed her body temperature was basically
normal. Her face wasn't getting flush, no headaches and she was supremely
stable emotionally.
By the next weekend the symptoms crept back in and it was very
noticeable, but definitely not as bad as before. She was really bummed out. But too scared to dose again because we had a
lot of shit to do all weekend.
I figured micro dose. She went
for it. But alas it just made her
uncomfortable and antisocial. Which it
does to me as well.
So that didn't help, but she was much better off. Occasional hot flashes. Occasional face flushing ...but doesn't last
long and seems to be induced by wine.
Even just a sip she turns red.
No headaches. Night hot flashes get her all sweaty and gross which
totally blows because it makes falling back to sleep difficult, but at least
not impossible like before. And she's not having flash after flash after flash
like before.
She doses when she can, every couple months or whatever and every
single time, she gets about 4-5 days of nearly 100 percent relief...
I chalked this up to a one off and figured it was just her.
But alas... her friend, let’s call her Terry. Just turned 49, and
complaining about her awful menopause symptoms.
My girl explains the relief she got. "In this desperate situation
women will try anything, and are often sent in circles for years with doctors
with little to no relief". My girl says "doctors and the fda are cash
farmers and we're the livestock."
I agree whole heartedly.
So Terry came over that Friday, I gave her 3.5 grams. She had a strong
body trip, with almost zero visuals. My girl didn't trip and I did. I took 3.5 grams’ same batch of tea had a
great trip loaded with visuals and very uplifting.
Terry reported almost 10 days with symptom relief. Same symptoms as my
girl. Even longer relief. We've shared a bunch with her since. Roughly the same frequency as my girl.
Is there any science on this issue?
Has anyone had similar experiences?
Are there any medical professionals working on this?
Side note... almost all experiences were with my strongest panaeolous
cinctulus. Manure monsters. However, a couple were with psilocybe cubensis,
home cultivated (not by me) ... both of those Terry reported not getting the
same relief but some. Didn't last as
long and her hot flashes during the day seemed almost the same as before
dosing.
Thanks for reading.

Two women out of two. That is a great result! Еspecially for them and their
families. But that is just two women… Further research might be needed.
But maybe that is something you may think about, trying
to improve your situation with natural resources versus questionable
medications.
Other Benefits
Psilocybin, the drug in “magic mushrooms,” helps many
people become more open, creative, and curious after they take a single high
dose, a new study shows.
Ordinarily, researchers say, after age 30 personality is
a pretty fixed part of who we are.
When people do change their stripes, it’s usually in the
wake of significant life events that cause emotional upheaval, like marriage,
divorce, or getting fired from a job.
Researchers say the new study, which is published in the
Journal of Psychopharmacology, is one the first to show that a drug, when used
in an experimental setting, can alter personality long term.
Specifically, the study found that psilocybin affects a
dimension of personality called openness. Openness relates to the ability to
see and appreciate beauty, to imagine, to be aware of our own and other
people’s feelings, and to be curious and creative.
“Personality, after the age of 25, is relatively stable, and
if anything happens, openness decreases across decades, just very slightly, but
generally people become more rigid and less creative,” says researcher Roland
R. Griffiths, PhD, professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at the Johns
Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore. “And this is showing an
anti-aging affect if you will, on openness.”
Magic Mushrooms Microdosing
and Women’s Health
A July 2019 article in Marie Claire called attention to
the growing trend of women self-treating their mental health issues by
microdosing psilocybin mushrooms (aka magic mushrooms or psychedelic
mushrooms).7 They microdose to treat their PTSD, depression, anxiety, and ADHD
(attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder), among other conditions. The women
say traditional pharmaceuticals did not work for them or made it feel like they
were just walling off the issue, and still not feeling better. Microdosing magic
mushrooms made the women feel they could face and deal with the issues that
were causing their symptoms. The women weren’t cured, but as a microdosing
photographer put it,
When I do have bad days, I’m able to separate myself from a feeling of
worthlessness and stop telling myself the story that I shouldn’t try to
connect, shouldn’t be curious, shouldn’t create. Microdosing helps me recognize
that I’m still whole.
Another woman said,
I processed my emotions and let them go in a few hours.
Psilocybin, the most famous compound in magic mushrooms,
is effective for relieving the symptoms of treatment-resistant depression (TRD)
and is currently in phase 2 clinical trials.
A new study in the Journal of Psychopharmacology, led by
Roland Griffiths at Johns Hopkins University, has found that for mentally and
physically healthy volunteers, two doses of psilocybin in conjunction with a
program of meditation and other “spiritual” practices was enough to bring about
lasting, positive changes to traits including altruism, gratitude, forgiveness
and feeling close to others.
And actually there is not anything new under the Sun.
Ingenious people used magic mushrooms for the natural health enhancement
procedures, including the women’s symptoms relief at menopause, the age of the
real wisdom.
